Brittany Tavo

Occupation: Physiotherapist

What are your professional interests/specialities?

I really enjoy the variety of work that being a physiotherapist allows. Although musculoskeletal/sports physiotherapy is my primary field of practice and what drew me to physiotherapy initially, I appreciate the challenge and dynamics in the neuro field.

Tell us, where are you from and how did you get to be a Physiotherapist in the Pilbara region?

Falling not too far from the tree, I was born and bred in Hedland, where I now live and work. I love the laid-back Pilbara lifestyle and missed my family, so I found a job and made the move back with my now husband.

What do you love about the Pilbara?
I love the people! Obviously, I am fortunate enough to have (almost) all of my family here – grandparents, parents, siblings, aunties, uncles, nieces and nephews – the list goes on! So, I get to enjoy the Pilbara adventures with both family and friends.

Did you always want to be a Physiotherapist? Why?
I didn’t really know I wanted to do it until I was in year 10 or so, when I saw a Physiotherapist for a netball injury. After that I thought, “I could probably do that for a living”, and here I am!

 What are your passions?
Family, fishing, travel/ adventure and sports.

When you aren’t working, where will we find you?
Most likely at one of the sporting fields/courts in Hedland or hanging out with family and friends.
