Recently appointed, Monica is looking forward to contributing to the Pilbara Health Professionals Network (PHPN) as the regional program officer located in Karratha.
Monica has lived in the Pilbara with her family for the last seven years working as a GP Practice Nurse. Prior to living in the Pilbara, Monica worked as a Registered Midwife in Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory and as a Registered Nurse at the Children’s Hospital Westmead, New South Wales.
Monica has a passion for working within her community. She has undertaken a number of supportive roles including program co-ordinator for a parenting network, education assistant and taught infant massage classes to local parents.
As the regional program officer, Monica will be assisting with the coordination and delivery of professional development activities and helping to create social networking opportunities for health professionals and their families. She is also responsible for managing the PHPN website and social platforms.
The PHPN will bring together health professionals from all specialties to network, socialise, develop their professional skills and share referral pathways. Overall, the PHPN aims to improve patient care, enhance education and training opportunities, and support the attraction and integration of health professionals living in the Pilbara.
