Amanda Hackett

Occupation: Regional Integration Manager – Pilbara at WA Primary Health Alliance.

What are your professional interests/specialities?
I started my career in healthcare almost 20 years ago working as an Army Medical Technician for the Australian Defence Force. I have been fortunate to travel Australia as well as overseas working within that role which broaden my clinical experience in pre-hospital care and emergency management. More recently I have worked in a managerial role where I developed a passion for training and development and influencing change in the workplace in a positive manner, which has led me here today with my current role at WA Primary Health Alliance.

Tell us, where are you from and how did you get to be an Integration Manager in the Pilbara region?
Originally from the South-west of WA, I relocated to the Pilbara in 2014 with my young family due to a work opportunity for my husband. During my time in the Pilbara, I continued to serve with the Army and worked for WACHS. Late last year I saw that WA Primary Health Alliance had advertised the position for a Regional Integration Manager which aligned with the direction I wanted to take professionally. I applied and was fortunate enough to get the job, which I commenced in mid-December 2022.

What do you love about the Pilbara?
What is there not to love? Being in a big country town like Karratha, the sense of community is fantastic. We have made so many wonderful friends through work, our children, schooling and sport. The people you meet here do become your family away from home. Not to mention that there are endless adventures to be had, whether it is out on the boat exploring the Dampier archipelago, heading out camping for the weekend or just a simple BBQ down at Hearson’s Cove. The opportunity to explore the great outdoors is right at your doorstep.

Did you always want to be an Integration Manager? Why?
No, but I always envisioned myself being in a role advocating to improve health outcomes for all. Integrative healthcare allows individuals within our community to access care when and where they need it. This role creates a platform to collaboratively work alongside local service providers, healthcare agencies and community groups to achieve better health outcomes and I am looking forward to this role.

What are your passions?
My family, good health and travelling around our beautiful country.
