Virtual launch of the Pilbara Health Professional’s Network

On the evening of the 29th April 2020 local Pilbara health professionals and stakeholders tuned in from the workplace or the comfort of their homes to the virtual launch of the Pilbara Health Professionals Network (PHPN).

Fifty-nine guests attended the online launch using ‘Zoom’ videoconferencing platform, and learnt about how the PHPN can benefit and connect local health professionals. Attendees enjoyed a live-stream performance by Pilbara musician Greg Gardiner and presentations by PHPN partners Rural Health West, WA Primary Health Alliance, WA Centre for Rural Health and WA Country Health Service.

The aim of the PHPN is to provide rural and remote health professionals in the Pilbara with better support and greater opportunities to network, upskill, share information and collaborate in a local supportive community environment. The PHPN will help connect health professionals across the region to enhance patient and community outcomes, encourage the retention of health professionals in the region and to increase access to education and upskilling opportunities.

The feedback from attendees has been very positive and we look forward to being able to deliver networking and face-to-face launch events in Karratha, Port Hedland, Newman and Tom Price, once the social distancing measures have been lifted.
