Yarning about the Social and Emotional Wellbeing of First Nations Women and Gender Diverse People | Online

This webinar will be conducted in a yarning circle format, offering a First Nations perspective aimed at informing multidisciplinary care (MDC) practitioners. The focus will be on supporting the Social and Emotional Wellbeing and holistic mental health care of First Nations women and gender diverse people.

Recent research highlights an increase in First Nations young women seeking mental health care. The discussion will explore implications for trauma-informed mental health care practice through the lenses of truth-telling and decolonisation.

Within the yarning circle, the panel will discuss culturally responsive MDC approaches and suggest practices for delivering culturally safe care. The conversation will prioritise strategies to enhance mental health outcomes for First Nations people.

Additionally, a First Nations online moderator will facilitate inclusive yarning in the participant online chatbox, ensuring active engagement within the yarning circle.
