Whisper No More Training – Karratha

This workshop aims to encourage conversations and build greater understanding of what matters to Aboriginal people when they have cancer. The training is aimed at all health professionals, health educators, local organisations and community members in Karratha, WA.

The workshop incorporates the Whisper No More training package developed by the WA Centre for Rural Health. It aims to:

• increase awareness and understanding of the specific needs of Aboriginal people with cancer
• develop participants’ skills as educators as Aboriginal people are frequently called upon for a variety of roles in education (e.g., by family, patients and professional colleagues)
• facilitate networks between health professionals and cancer support staff.

The workshop will cover:

• symptoms and diagnosis
• delays in diagnosis
• response to diagnosis
• treatment
• living with a cancer diagnosis
• end-of-life care wishes.

Time: 9am to 4pm (AWST)

Cost: Free. Registration is essential as there are limited spaces.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.
