How do the impacts of trauma present at later stages of the lifespan? This webinar will discuss the long-term effects of trauma, and how they can influence the life of older Australians.

In this facilitated discussion, panellists will explore the roles of different disciplines in providing trauma informed care with older Australians. Gain insight into trauma-informed practices and treatments – what they are and how they work – to better support the mental health of older people. Panellists will share practical tips and strategies on how to effectively engage in trauma informed care with older people, and fully utilise referral pathways within an interdisciplinary approach.

Presented by MHPN in partnership with all 31 Primary Health Networks (PHNs), this is the first webinar in the second series focusing on the well-being of older Australians.

The interdisciplinary panel of experts includes E/Prof. Judith Atkinson (International Indigenous Trauma Healing Educator and Researcher), Dr. Johanna Lynch (General Practitioner), Dr. Duncan McKellar (Psychiatrist) with Dr Stephen Ginsborg (General Practitioner) as facilitator.
