STI and BBV Nursing: Management and Care
For nurses, midwives, and sexual health workers.
Course Summary
Nurses and midwives play a crucial role in the prevention and management of blood borne viruses (BBVs) and sexually transmissible infections (STIs).
Synopsis
This four-part training course helps nurses, midwives and sexual health workers understand the public health aspects and clinical management of common STIs, HIV and hepatitis B. The course helps participants develop confidence in a proactive and practical approach to health care and evidence-based practice.

Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the clinical presentation and nurse’s role in managing STIs
- Identify the priority populations for STI and BBV screening
- Demonstrate confidence in discussing sexual health with patients
- Describe contact tracing processes
- Describe current HIV prevention methods
