One-day Masterclass delivered in-person

This one-day masterclass aims to explore and develop our understanding of coercive control in the context of family violence through a social entrapment and resistive violence model.

The course will explore how we can effectively work with victims/survivors, and users of violence to ensure identification and reduction of risk and lethality factors, gain a deeper understanding of our role and responsibilities as part of a service system response, and how to safety and manage risk through a structured professional judgment lens.

This course utilises the West Australian Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework (CRARMF), which has been developed in line with National Competency and the National Action Plan to End Gendered Violence against Women and Children.

Outcomes of Learning

  1. Establish confidence in recognising and responding to coercive control in the context of Family Violence
  2. Integrate understanding of social entrapment, systemic bias and intersectionality in responses to family violence
  3. Enhance your skills in exploring resistive violence and mapping micro-aggressions to identify patterns of abusive behaviour
  4. Identify and distinguish between risk and risk indicators when working with FDV
