Culturally Safe & Respectful Practices Workshop | Karratha

Half day workshop focused on culturually safe practice for any person working in the disabilty services sector.
The workshop will cover:
- significance of country, culture and spirituality
- signficance of family and kinship
- impact of colonisation on Aboriginal health today
- Aboriginal perspective of disabilty
- influences on Aboriginal participations in disability services
- communicating and engaging with Aborignal people
The workshop is a collaboration between Karratha Central Healthcare and WA Centre for Rural Health and will be delivered by Associate Lecturer Annette McVicar. Annette is a Mununjali/Minjungbal woman from the YUgambeh language region of south-east Queensland. She provides valuable guidance on implementing culturally safe and respectful healthcare practices when interacting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, offering practical tips and recommendations.
