DESCRIPTION:Elder abuse is a serious public health and social issue\, estimated to effect 1 in 6 older adults in Western Australia. Linda’s presentation offers additional practice points regarding other fundamental nutritional considerations that need to be recognised\, to provide true holistic care in GDM. Ensuring that healthcare settings and HCP’s are equipped to support general nutritional adequacy and healthy weight gain education\, is paramount in assisting in reducing both short and long-term complications\, as well as maximising patients’ wellbeing on during the pregnancy. \nThis presentation also intends to evoke further consideration of how we deliver these education messages to GDM mothers\, prioritising balanced messaging around the nuances in current guidelines and client-centred language that can target this education to the specific client’s physical\, social\, cultural\, and emotional needs. \nLinda Bradbury\, an Accredited Practising Dietitian & Credentialled Diabetes Educator\, brings 8 years of experience.
