SUMMARY:Talking About Aging\, Death and Dying | Online webinar
DESCRIPTION:Available Dates: \n\nMonday 20 November 2023 | 9:00am – 10:30am\nMonday 26 February 2024 | 1:30pm – 3:30pm\nWednesday 22 May 2024 | 12:00pm – 1:30pm\n\nCost: Free ticketed event | Venue: Your computer \nDesigned for: Administrative Staff\, Non-Clinical Staff\, Aboriginal Health Workers\, Aboriginal Liaison officers\, Patient Care Assistants and Paid Carers \nSeries: RACEPC Communicate | Facility Challenge Series \nTitle: Talking About Aging Death and Dying \nOverview: Each team member working in a Residential Aged Care facility play an enormous part in a resident’s life and wellbeing. Compassionate staff contribute to and foster the environment this person now calls their home. The aging\, dying and death concept can be a fearful experience for both the resident and their loved ones. This is also the case for the staff and other residents working and living in the facility. \nWorking in an environment with residents who are aging and dying can be demanding of you both professionally and personally. Each and every staff member are integral to creating a safe and compassionate experience for all. \nThis session aims to talk about aging\, dying and death: \n\nHow do I know a resident is dying?\nWhat do I or don’t I say!\nRemoving stigma and common misconceptions around death and dying!\nHow can I support (and be understanding of) residents\, families\, and colleagues.\nWhen is it appropriate to inform clinical staff of conversations or observations with family members/ residents?\nThe concept of a ‘good death’ or ‘dying well’ is subjective\, however there are many agreed contributing factors. We hope by joining us for this webinar\, you gain confidence and enhance your knowledge in talking about aging\, death\, and dying.\n\nPresented By: \nEd Gaudoin | Clinical Nurse & Nurse Educator and End of Life Coordinator\, Brightwater. \nJo Whitley | End of Life Choices Coordinator (EoLCC) and Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD)\, East Metropolitan Health Services.

SUMMARY:Palliative care for people living with & dying from dementia | Online webinar
DESCRIPTION:Department of Health End of Life Care Program and Older Persons Health Network invite you to attend a webinar on models of palliative care for people living with and dying from dementia presented by Dr Elissa Campbell\, geriatrician\, and palliative care physician. \nDementia is the leading cause of death in older Australians\, and people with dementia often experience distressing symptoms and burdensome interventions at the end of life. Despite this\, people living with and dying from dementia are less likely to access palliative care. \nWA Department of Health Churchill Fellow Dr Campbell visited multiple clinical\, research and community organisations in six countries in 2022 to explore models of palliative care for people with dementia. Her presentation will describe various models of palliative dementia care and outline several common components of these models that may be adapted to Australian settings. \nWhen: Tuesday 14 November 2023 | 3.00pm-3.45pm. \nRegister to attend via Trybooking.

SUMMARY:One-Day Workshop: FDV-informed Documentation and Language | Online
DESCRIPTION:When working with survivors (adult and child) or users of violence\, it is essential to use language that reflects a survivor\, strength-based approach\, a perpetrator-facing\, and a perpetrator-driven risk approach. This ensures behaviour patterns are prominent and visible\, survivor resistance and strengths are at the forefront of responses and\, service responses are better able to assess risk and imminency to risk. Accordingly\, in domestic and family violence work\, our language should focus on perpetrator accountability and a behaviour pattern-based approach. This workshop has been developed to align with the internally accredited Safe and Together model. \nThis one-day workshop will provide further skills and knowledge of best practice when capturing documentation in family domestic and sexual abuse matters. \nDate: Thursday 9 November 2023\nTime: 9:00am – 4:00pm\nCost: $149-$249\nLocation: Online – a link and further details will be emailed one day prior to the event \nRegister now
