SUMMARY:Take Heart: Deadly Heart - movie on Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD)
DESCRIPTION:Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) is a cardiac condition that affects many children and young people in the Pilbara. It is completely preventable\, starting with a strep throat or skin sores usually associated with disadvantaged living conditions\, and can lead to permanent and irreversible heart valve damage. This disease is most prevalent in Aboriginal young people in our community\, with many requiring monthly injections and inevitable heart surgery. Without treatment\, RHD and its complications can be life-threatening. \nTake Heart: Deadly Heart provides a powerful centrepiece to National Close the Gap Day events\, NAIDOC Week events and educational initiatives. If the film can reach the right audiences and create the change needed\, an estimated 6000 first nations Australian children will avoid contracting this preventable but potentially life-threatening illness. \nWe would love you to join the movement to put RHD in the history books and come along to the live screening for our community. The City of Karratha and Moonshine Agency have come onboard with offering a free movie event in Karratha on Tuesday 16 May at 11.00am. \nThe trailer can be viewed HERE

DESCRIPTION:NDCOs work strategically with business organisations\, local & state government\, education providers\, and the disability sector to drive change to increase opportunities for people with disabilities to succeed in further education and subsequent employment. \nRecent research conducted across Western Australia identified gaps and barriers to employment for people with disabilities. You can access the summary report from the previous workshops here NDCO World Cafe Report 2021 \nSince then\, we have been busy developing a tool in response to the amazing feedback received. \nThe NDCO team in WA have developed a practical guide to assist employers in driving workplace inclusion for people with disability. This guide will be presented at the 2021 interactive workshop “Driving Workplace Diversity and Inclusion”. \nWe will be facilitating one of these events on TUESDAY 19th October  from 10am – 2pm. \nRegistrations are now open for you to attend this free event. \n\n\nTickets are limited\, lunch and refreshments provided.
