DESCRIPTION:Western Australia enjoys one of the most culturally diverse populations in Australia. To assist healthcare workers and providers deliver services that are equitable\, the Health Consumers’ Council has developed this workshop to enable health workers to provide culturally inclusive services that support patient-centered care. \nThis workshop is aimed at clinicians such as nurses\, nurse coordinators and allied health professionals as well as other healthcare workers such as administration and support staff and it may also be of interest to consumer representatives. \nThe workshop will be conducted online via Zoom.  You will receive the link via email\, closer to the time of the workshop. \nWHEN: Tuesday 14 January 2025 | 10.30am – 1.00pm AWST \nWORKSHOP CONTENT \n\nRecognise potential barriers people may have in accessing health services\nIncrease understanding of cultural competency\nIncrease awareness of own culture and attitude towards cultural difference\nUnderstand unconscious bias an it’s impact\nGain knowledge and sensitivity of different cultural practice\nExplore ability to use cross-cultural skills\nDiscuss strategies to increase service accessibility\nDeliberate strategies to deliver a culturally competent service\n\nThis workshop is funded by WA Health and as such WA Health staff will be prioritised for places.   Non WA Health staff will be waitlist and advised a week before the event if they have a place or not. \nREGISTER HERE.

SUMMARY:Palliative Care ECHO 2024 | Interactive virtual mentoring sessions via Zoom
DESCRIPTION:ECHO programs offer free interactive online training bringing health professionals and primary care together to share knowledge\, ideas\, and experiences\, fostering a friendly supportive environment. These monthly sessions run for an hour from 11.00am to 12.00pm WA and are open to all health care staff including Nursing\, Allied health\, GP’s\, Community health and Indigenous health workers.  \nPalliative Care ECHO is a series of interactive virtual mentoring sessions that addresses a range of palliative care topics. It aims to increase palliative care knowledge\, skills and confidence in health professionals. \nEach 1 hour session consists of: \n\nA 10-minute presentation from a multidisciplinary specialist palliative care team\nA case presentation by a primary care professional\nOpportunities for Q&A and discussion\n\nPalliative Care ECHO Benefits \n\nA virtual network to share palliative care knowledge and experiences\nConnect with multidisciplinary specialist teams\nImprove palliative care knowledge and skills\nIncrease confidence to support someone with a life-limiting illness and their family\nIncrease job satisfaction and promote peer support between health services
