SUMMARY:Short Mental Health Interventions: Journalling for good mental health
DESCRIPTION:Many people find writing and journalling very helpful for maintaining good mental health and even to help them through a difficult time. How do we encourage the people we see to give it a try? Join our facilitators as they discuss some of the research to support the idea of writing for good mental health and their own clinical experience. \nMental health is the number one reason people see their GPs*\, yet GPs are time poor and wait times to see psychologists are long. The need for mental health care is growing faster than specialised support and services are\, leaving a gap in patient care. This webinar series aims to provide GPs and other health professionals with skills to ‘fill the gap’ in providing mental health care to their patients using a range of brief interventions. Each webinar will be a discussion about the specific intervention and tips on how to use it effectively with your patients. How do we treat family and friends? What are the things to look out for\, what are the barriers and possible solutions for success. *General Practice Health of the Nation report\, RACGP\, 2021. \nFacilitator: \n• Dr Jan Orman \nGuest \n• Dr Phoebe Holdenson-Kimura \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nAccreditation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCertificates provided on completion for professionals to claim CPD points\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nSuitable for\n\nAllied Health\, Counsellors\, GP Registrars\, GPs \n\n\n\n \n\n\nLearning Objectives\n\n\n\n\n\n\n• Develop an understanding of specific mental health management strategies \n• Hear about how other health professionals use the strategy in their practice and integrate it into their daily workflows \n• Develop ideas on how to apply the strategy in practice \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
