See all the learning outcomes. \nThe Panel\nDr Craig Barnett is a GP based in Newcastle and has over 20 years’ experience in both General Practice and Occupational Health with a special interest in injury management\, workplace health including hazardous substances\, psychological injuries & medical computing. \nDr Tony McHugh is a senior fellow in Melbourne University’s Psychiatry Department. He was for two decades the principal psychologist and manager of Austin Health’s trauma-related mental health (TRMH) services. In his private practice\, he specialises in the treatment of traumatised members of the community. \nChristie Stonham is performing the role of Manager of SHIELD Strategy and Capability for the Australian Federal Police (AFP). In this role\, she is responsible for delivering elements of SHIELD\, the AFP’s health service delivery model\, in close partnership with the Chief Medical Officer and Manager SHIELD Service Delivery. \nFacilitator: Prof. Steve Trumble is a medical educator with the RACGP and professor of medical education at Melbourne Medical School. He has held a variety of roles in GP education\, including directing the RACGP Training Program and editing Australian Family Physician.

DESCRIPTION:Register now for the next webinar in the Queeroboree webinar series on Monday 3 July 2023 from 11.00am-12.00pm (WA). \nThis webinar will explore research\, led by Madi Day\, on suicide-related behaviour and examine social\, cultural\, emotional well-being\, and protective factors associated with suicide among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB people. \nJoin Black Rainbow Founder\, Dameyon Bonson\, and Psychotherapist\, Damien Riggs\, as they discuss the factors that contribute to compounded layers of trauma that impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB people and explore solutions to improve wellbeing and reduce the risk of suicide. \nLearning Outcomes \n\nDiscuss research around suicide-related behaviour among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB people.\nOutline social\, cultural and emotional wellbeing and protective factors for suicide in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB people.\nDiscuss the factors that contribute to compounded layers of trauma for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB people.\nDiscuss solutions to improve wellbeing and reduce suicide risk in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB people.\n\nPresenters:\nDameyon Bonson is a cisgender gay male of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent. He is recognised as an Indigenous suicide prevention subject matter expert\, specifically in Indigenous LGBTIQA+SB suicide prevention and has extensive experience working in and with remote Indigenous communities in suicide prevention. In 2013\, Dameyon founded Black Rainbow\, Australia’s first and only national Indigenous LGBTIQA+SB suicide prevention charity organisation. \nDamien Riggs is a professor in psychology at Flinders University and is the author of over 200 publications on gender\, family\, and mental health\, including Working with Transgender Young People and their Families (Palgrave\, 2019).\nDamien is also a psychotherapist who specialises in working with transgender children. DESCRIPTION:Unintentional poisoning is one of the leading causes of injuries in WA\, accounting for 179 deaths in 2021. Injury Matters is hosting this hybrid seminar where we will hear from Louise Edwards from the Poisons Information Centre to learn more about poisoning prevention strategies to enable health professionals to promote and support effective health education. DESCRIPTION:Duration\n7 hrs \n\n\n \n\n\nProgram Outline\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWith a focus on self-harm and suicide in adolescence\, this program will assist clinicians to manage youth in distress\, self-harm and suicidality. \nThe program has been designed to build on the current level of skills of participants and to further develop confidence in undertaking risk assessment and safety planning for youth in distress. \nModule 1 will need to be completed prior to the commencement of module 2.
