SUMMARY:Acknowledging Country workshop | Online via zoom
DESCRIPTION:We welcome you to join this online workshop from wherever you are across Australia. \nAn Acknowledgement of Country demonstrates respect for the traditional custodians of the land on which a meeting or event is being held. It recognises the continuing relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their Country. \nIt is important to start meetings\, events\, and professional gatherings with an Acknowledgement\, and delivering a thoughtful\, personalised Acknowledgement is an opportunity to express your\, and your organisations\, respect for Aboriginal people\, Country\, and Culture. \nThis workshop will help you start thinking about what an Acknowledgement of Country means. It will explain the difference between an Acknowledgement and a Welcome to Country\, explore when you should be doing an Acknowledgement\, and provide tangible tips on how to personalise your Acknowledgement to make it meaningful and respectful. \nThe workshop is delivered by HCC’s Aboriginal Engagement Coordinator\, Tania Harris\, in a warm and supportive environment where you will be encouraged to ask questions\, so that you feel fully-equipped to deliver your personalised Acknowledgment with confidence and respect. \nDates: 5 July\, 2 August 2023\nLocation: Online via Zoom\nCost: $53.90 \nRead more and register. \nHealth Consumers’ Council acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities as the Traditional Custodians of the land we work on\, specifically the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation\, and pay our respects to Elders past\, present\, and emerging. Australia always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
